Providing free WiFi is a demanding job and we at MyPlace Connect used the Easter Break to catch up on some chores like checking recent activity levels on our network. Activity over the St Patrick’s Festival period far exceeded our best period to date which provided us with an excuse to celebrate with some egg shaped chocolate! Over this period 5,000 people signed up to use our free WiFi and demand for our WiFi was high.
These figures were not a complete surprise as from our own experience we knew that pubs were a sea of humanity as people forgot about their woes for a few days and celebrated our national saint. Some pub owners told us it was their best period in years as we celebrated as if prohibition was coming.
Many of the foreign visitors who descended on Ireland for the festivities enjoyed the hospitality of Irish pubs. Those who celebrated in the many pubs providing our WiFi were able to share their experiences with family and friends for free.
