Public IP
A static public IP is required for the cloud gateway. If the cloud gateway is behind another primary router, you’ll need to configure a port forward from the primary router to the UniFi cloud gateway on port 443
If it is not possible to get a static IP, then consider using a dynamic DNS service
Step by Step Guide
Generate the Unifi Network API Key:
- Access the UniFi Network Application:
- Log in to your UniFi Network application via the web interface or through your Official UniFi Hosting account.
- Navigate to the Integrations Section:
- Go to Network > Settings > System > Integrations.
Alternatively:
- Go to Network > Settings > System > Integrations.
- Generate the API Key:
- In the Integrations section, you will find the option to generate API keys.
- Follow the prompts to create a new API key.
- Save the API Key:
- Once generated, make sure to securely save the API key, as it may not be displayed again.

Configure Your Guest Network
- Set Hotspot to Captive Portal
- Go to Network > [Your Guest SSID]
- Under Advanced Settings, locate Hotspot 2.0
- Set it to Captive Portal
2. Set Authentication to One-Way Method
- Go to your Hotspot settings
- Under Authentication Methods, expand One Way Methods
- Select External Portal Server
3. Configure Guest Portal Settings
Make sure these are applied:
- Session timeout: 8 hours
- Show Landing Page: Enabled
- Encrypted URL: Enabled
- Secure Portal: Enabled
- Domain: join.myplaceconnect.net
4. Add Whitelist IPs and Domains
This step is essential to allow portal and login functions to work before authentication.
- Go to Network > Guest Control > Pre-Authorization Access
- Add all IPs/domains listed below:

🌐 Domains:
- facebook.com
- connect.facebook.net

Connect Your Network Controller to MyPlace
1. Open the MyPlace Admin Panel
Go to the MyPlace Admin Panel → open the Networks section, then go to the Network Controller tab.
2. Add a New Controller
Click the “Add New Controller” button.
3. Select Controller Type
In the list, choose:
- Type: Ubiquiti Unifi
- Subtype: Network Application
4. Enter Controller Address
Enter the external IP address of your controller,
or the domain name if one is assigned.
5. Choose Credential Type
From the dropdown list, select:
→ API Key
6. Enter Your API Key
Paste the API key you created earlier in Step 2.
7. Finish
Click the “Finish” button to save the controller and complete the integration.
