Setting Up MyPlace on Ruckus SmartZone Controllers

Integrating MyPlace with your Ruckus SmartZone Controller allows you to display a branded Wi-Fi login seamlessly. This guide walks you through the setup process for different types of Ruckus SmartZone controllers and the necessary configurations to ensure MyPlace functions properly.

Configuring Ruckus SmartZone Integration with MyPlace

To ensure proper communication between MyPlace and the Ruckus controller, the following ports must be open:

• Port 9443: Required for access to the authorization endpoint.
• Port 8443: Needed for access to the controller’s admin panel and API server.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Select Controller Type

1. Open the MyPlace Admin Panel.
2. Navigate to Networks > Network Controllers.
3. Click Add Controller.
4. Select the following:
   • Type: Ruckus
   • Subtype: Ruckus SmartZone

Step 2: Enter the IP address or domain name of your controller.

Step 3: Enter your login credentials

Step 3: Complete Setup

Once the credentials are confirmed, you’ll see the controller appear in your account and can proceed to assign locations and SSIDs.

Connecting a Location to the Ruckus Controller

Step 1: Open the Controller

Navigate to the Networks page and select the Network Controller tab.

Step 2: Add a Location

Click the + icon next to your Ruckus controller.

Step 3: Assign Location, Site, and SSID

In the pop-up modal:

• Choose the MyPlace location you want to link.
• Select the appropriate Ruckus site.
• Pick the SSID where you want MyPlace to be active.

Step 4: Finalize Configuration

Click Add Location to apply the configuration. Your Ruckus guest network is now connected to MyPlace.

1. Ruckus SmartZone Virtual SmartZone (vSZ)

vSZ Essentials (vSZ-E)

• Supports up to 1,000 access points and 25,000 clients.

SmartZone 300 (SZ300)

• Designed for large-scale networks with heavy traffic loads.
• Supports up to 10,000 access points and 150,000 clients.

3. Ruckus Cloud SmartZone
