Setting up Aruba Central to integrate with MyPlace
Aruba Integration Guide Overview
To connect myplace.app to Aruba Central, you need to create an API application in the Aruba
Central portal. This will provide you with the credentials required in the Add New Network
Controller form.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Determine Your Region
Look at the URL in your browser when logged in to Aruba Central:
- app-ukwest2.central.arubanetworks.com → UK West
- app-us2.central.arubanetworks.com → US East
- app-eu.central.arubanetworks.com → EU (Frankfurt)
- app-apsoutheast.central.arubanetworks.com → Asia Pacific
Step 2 — Find Your Customer ID
Step 1: Go to Account Home
Click the grid icon () in the top-right corner of Aruba Central to open Account Home.
Step 2: Open Customer Details
Look for your account name at the top. The Customer ID is displayed under your
account/customer name, or navigate to: Account Home → Manage → Customers.
The Customer ID is a numeric value, e.g. 123456. It is different from your username.
Step 3 — Create an API Application
Step 1: Open API Gateway
In Aruba Central, click your profile icon (top-right) → API Gateway. Alternatively navigate to:
Account Home → Global Settings → API Gateway.
Step 2: Go to My Apps & Tokens
Select the ‘My Apps & Tokens’ tab.
Step 3: Add a new application
Click ‘+ Add Apps’ button.
Step 4: Fill in application details
Enter a name for the application (e.g. ‘myplace-integration’) and click Save.
Step 5: Copy credentials
After saving, the system will display your Client ID and Client Secret. Copy them
immediately — the Client Secret is only shown once.
The Client Secret is shown only once after creation. Store it securely before closing the dialog.
Step 4 — Enter Credentials in your MyPlace Admin Portal
Return to the myplace.app and navigate to the Add New Network Controller form and fill in:
- Region — select based on your Central URL
- Client ID — from API Gateway
- Client Secret — from API Gateway
- Username — your Aruba Central login email
- Password — your Aruba Central login password
- Customer ID — numeric ID from Account Home
Troubleshooting
Cannot find API Gateway
API Gateway is only available on accounts with API access enabled. If you don’t see it, contact your Aruba Central administrator or HPE support to enable API access for your account.
Client Secret lost
If you lose the Client Secret, you cannot recover it. You must delete the existing application and create a new one. The Client ID will change as well.
Authentication fails with correct credentials
- Verify the Region matches your Aruba Central URL exactly
- Ensure the API application has the correct permissions (read access to AP configuration)
- Check that your account has not expired or been locked
- Try logging in to Aruba Central manually to confirm credentials are active
