Integrating MyPlace with your TP-Link Omada controller gives you a fully branded guest Wi-Fi login with centralized control and monitoring. Whether using a local or cloud-based controller, the setup process only takes a few steps.

Once connected, you’ll be able to assign locations, customize the guest portal, and view visitor analytics directly in your MyPlace dashboard.

Adding an Omada Controller to MyPlace

Requirements:

  • Cloud controller: use the host URL (e.g. https://use1-omada-cloud.tplinkcloud.com)
  • Local controller: must use an external/public IP address (not a private 192.x.x.x IP)
  • Authentication: either• Username + Password (for cloud setup), or• Client ID + Client Secret + Controller ID (for Omada controllers with Open API setup, v5.12+ only)


Step 1: Determine Controller Type

Confirm if you’re using:

  • A cloud-hosted controller (accessed via Cloud ), or

A locally hosted controller with an external IP address.


Step 2: Gather Credentials

  • For cloud controllers: use your admin username and password.
  • For local controllers with Open API (v5.12+):
    • Log in to Omada
    • Go to: Global ViewSettingsPlatform IntegrationOpen API
    • Create an Open API application and copy the following:
      • Client ID
      • Client Secret
      • Controller ID (labeled as omadac_id in MyPlace)

Step 3: Add the Controller to MyPlace

  1. Go to the Networks page in your MyPlace account.
  2. Select the Network Controller tab.
  3. Choose TP-Link Omada from the list.
  4. Paste in your required credentials (based on cloud or local method).
  5. Enter your hostname (for cloud) or external IP (for local).

Step 4: Complete Setup

Once the credentials are confirmed, you’ll see the controller appear in your account and can proceed to assign locations and SSIDs.

Adding a Location Using an Omada Controller

Step 1: Open the Controller

Navigate to the Networks page and select the Network Controller tab.

Step 2: Add a Location

Click the + icon next to your Omada controller.

Step 3: Assign Location, Site, and SSID

In the pop-up modal:

  • Choose the MyPlace location you want to link.
  • Select the appropriate Omada site.
  • Pick the SSID where you want MyPlace to be active.

Step 4: Finalize Configuration

Click Add Location to apply the configuration. Your Omada guest network is now connected to MyPlace.
