Setting Up MyPlace on Ruckus SmartZone Controllers
Integrating MyPlace with your Ruckus SmartZone Controller allows you to display a branded Wi-Fi login seamlessly. This guide walks you through the setup process for different types of Ruckus SmartZone controllers and the necessary configurations to ensure MyPlace functions properly.
Types of Ruckus SmartZone Controllers
Ruckus offers several SmartZone controller options, each designed to cater to different network sizes and management needs.
1. Ruckus SmartZone Virtual SmartZone (vSZ)
vSZ Essentials (vSZ-E)
- Designed for small and medium-sized networks.
- Supports up to 3,000 access points and 30,000 clients.
- Easy to deploy and manage.
- Commonly used for enterprises, hotels, and educational institutions.
vSZ High Scale (vSZ-H)
- Built for large-scale networks with high client density.
- Supports up to 30,000 access points and 450,000 clients.
- Ideal for service providers, large campuses, and Wi-Fi operators.
- Includes advanced management and reporting features.
2. SmartZone Appliance (Physical Controllers)
SmartZone 100 (SZ100)
- Suitable for small to medium-sized organizations.
- Supports up to 1,000 access points and 25,000 clients.
- Simple to configure and manage.
SmartZone 300 (SZ300)
- Designed for large-scale networks with heavy traffic loads.
- Supports up to 10,000 access points and 150,000 clients.
- Offers additional redundancy and high availability features.
3. Ruckus Cloud SmartZone
- A cloud-based controller allowing management of access points and networks without deploying a local controller.

Configuring Ruckus SmartZone Integration with MyPlace
To ensure proper communication between MyPlace and the Ruckus controller, the following ports must be open:
- Port 9443: Required for access to the authorization endpoint.

Setting Up the Hotspot WISPr Configuration
MyPlace uses the Hotspot WISPr configuration to manage guest Wi-Fi authentication through the Ruckus SmartZone controller.

To ensure compatibility with the Hotspot WISPr settings, modify the WLAN network configuration as follows:
Note: If changes have been previously made to the WLAN network configuration, verify that the WLAN network settings match the example in the provided screenshot.
3. Enabling Northbound Portal Interface Support
- Navigate to System → General Settings.
- Under the WISPr Northbound Interface tab, enable the option Enable Northbound Portal Interface Support.
- Specify the following credentials:
- Username: Ruckus
- Password: password123@
